The Soil Is Alive

I used to believe in dirt. I thought that the ground was literally just ground down rocks mixed up with the left over bits of dead plants and animals.
Now I know that the earth is alive. Every bit of the soil is thick with microorganisms. Vast networks of fungus grow underground, connecting every mote with the world above.
It begins with the leaf litter. It extends far underground.
The soil is alive. The ground is my church.
